General

Tampa, FL Aug 11th.

It's hot. 92 degrees (33 Celsius?) and by the time we get to the gate a medic was needed for heatstroke. Everyone one is sweating and I am glad that I wore shorts. We find out that the main stage won't open until 4:00. We head to the side stage band to kill time. It is still hot.

Styles of Beyond
They are very unsatisfactory. I never was expecting anything great but they were terrible. When they finish we are overjoyed.

The Bled
They are so bad I feel sorry for them. I briefly entertain the thought that the singer may be possessed by a demon for his dancing and hair are outrageous. It’s a hair raising jumbled mess of noise. I think that by they time they are done the singers voice must be stripped.

Someone tries to hand my father condoms but he declines as we are his daughters and he will not be having sex with us.

We don't stay around to watch Saosin. Although I like the singers voice and the song Voices was alright, it is too hot and we are thirsty. We by water for $4 a pop; they remove the caps and take them away from everyone so people will stop throwing them at the bands.

We kill time by sitting under the hard to find shade while I play a pocket game. Soon after we sit we are told we have to move because they are setting up tables so they can hand out bracelets for those are in the mosh pit.

The main stage doors open early because so many people are passing out from heatstroke. One forth of the amphitheater is roped off in yellow tape so we sit next to our row until we are allowed in.

Our seats are good. They face the center of the stage and we are close enough to see the acts nice and clear but far away enough for their faces to be blurry. They are great.

I find out that this group is comprised of some of the members from Orgy, who are great. Their back drop is red and black and though it we can see the green slices of Placebo's. This is exciting.

When they take the stage I am overjoyed to see that Amir is there because he is only the best snape look a like I have ever seen aka he is sexy! I fangirl a lot. The keyboard bounce with the force of their slamming the notes out. Amir is amazing, he is sexy and I can’t get over it. His outfit is perfection and his custom made guitar is baffling and outrageous. Ryan is the lead singer I figured this out after I saw the close up of his face. His hair is brown which had thrown me off because he has always been blond but his tattoos are the same.

My dad thinks he is an asshole which only makes me love them more. He covers his ears and I dance.

Their backdrop falls in pieces during the last song to reveal Placebo's which I can now see being two x-rayed skulls almost kissing.

As the set changes people text messages with their cells to the visual screens for everyone to see. Some one sends messages about Chuck Norris; everyone laughs.
Someone texts I love molsdal which makes me smile and scream.

After what seems like forever Placebo takes the stage.

PLACEBO

Steve comes on first but I don't see him until my sister shoves me. His arms are raised with his drumsticks in his fist as he greets the crowd. He is not wearing a shirt. Which is great because he is my favorite. Stef comes out in great tight pants and a sleeveless white shirt; he is sex. Brian is next in jeans and a white button down with those great white boots that I love.

Pure Morning is the opener. It is as great as it ever is. But it is not one of my favorites.

Because I Want You is amazing. Brian sings it a bit higher than on the cd so as a result the end is amazing. There is a big pause right before it where all the music stops before he breaks into the chorus for the last time; it sends shivers down my spine. Stef and Brian play facing each other with their eyes looked. I squee.

I notice two people in front of me singing along to every word. This makes me smile. I see a Placebo shirt and two people are holding a sign.

Meds this track opens up with Alex playing it on a acoustic. Then everyone joins in. Its seems jumpier and more rocky live. Stef is sexy, Steve is drumming like a demon and Brian's singing is heavenly.

Every You Every Me is always lovely and this is no exception. I love it. He sings parts of the songs differently and their is a pause before like the naked bit.

Taste in Men is blistering. Stef does the gay dance without lifting his feet from the stage before he breaks into the bass part. The crowd is confused at first because of the disco beat. In the pit peoples hands are in the air and someone is swinging their shirt. This is the most response anyone has every gotten, even HIM, though I can suppose they went wild for MCR because I didn't stay to watch.

The musical interlude in the middle is terrifying in a good way. Its blistering and hot. Brian plays so hard he loses the grip on the neck of guitar twice.

Special K this may have played before TIM, I can't recall. They drug name gets a cry from the crowd and Stef gets everyone to clap and Brian gets them to sing the ba da da da part.

Nancy Boy I don't know where this was in the set list but it is dirty and sexual. Everyone gets off on it.

The Bitter End This is where most of the crowd--the pit anyway--really gets what Placebo is- a tight rock band. Hands are waving in the air but no one dances because in America it is not done which is a shame.

All in all Placebo looks happy to be there. Brian looks a might tired but he is cheerful and him and Stef interact with the crowd a lot. He talks with them and says amusing bollocks.

The signing For Placebo and Julien K is canceled because it is lighting and raining, the threat of a storm is heavy on the horizon. A small smattering of people who wanted autographs are extremely disappointed; myself included.

The sunburn I now have, the $70, the three hour drive, the heat and the high priced water were worth it though.

I loved it.

Placebo made it worth it.
